Kannur University founded the School of Distance Education (SDE) to allow students from Kasaragod, Kannur, and Wayanad's Mananthavady Thaluk to study. It continues its primary role of offering education at the doorstep for individuals without formal schooling. The School of Distance Education began offering B.Com degrees in 2002-03.
The Kannur University Distance Education offers 17 courses: 10 undergraduate, 5 postgraduate, and 2 certificates. SDE started with 32 students in 2002-03 and now has 38400 in 2016-17. Print study material in Self Learning Mode, Personal Contact Programme, Orientation Programme, and chosen course projects are used for instruction. Other student support options include counseling and advice from certified and experienced teachers.
Kannur University SDE staff are dedicated to making the facility a top distance education center. Students should use SDE's Personal Contact Programs (PCP) and self-taught materials with Course Coordinators and dedicated teachers. Pre-scheduled online admission, timely examination and result publishing, first-year orientation, personal contact programs, and an arts festival are particular features of the School of Distance Education.

Kannur University Distance Education Admission 2024-25
Kannur University's School of Distance Education provides selective undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Kannur University Distance Education PG Admission 2024-25

Kannur University Distance Education Application Process 2024
The online application form must be completed by candidates who are interested in gaining admission to the university.
- In addition, candidates must submit the application form and the necessary documents to the office of the Director, School of Distance Education, Kannur University, Thavakkara, Civil Station, P.O. – 670002.
- On the university's website, the application form is accessible online. Candidates must ensure that the application form is meticulously and accurately completed.
- For applicants outside Kerala, fees can be paid online via Net banking, debit/credit card, or challans in Treasury [Head of Account 8658-00-102-96(27) KUS] or SBI [Head of Account 109-010] or by DD in favor of Finance Officer, payable at SBI, South Bazar Branch, Kannur.

Online Application Process for Kannur University SDE Admission
- Submit the necessary charge amount via 'SBI Collect' in the form of a bank/treasury challan or online.
- Chalan should be comprehensive in every respect. The purpose of the fee remittance is to cover the cost of the first year of a degree or postgraduate program.
- Scan and save a passport-sized photograph that was taken within the past six months.
Payment Guidelines for Online Fees via the SBI Collect Portal E-Chalan
- Access the SBI Payment Portal online.
- Choose the payment category.
- Complete all required fields and click the "Submit" icon.
- Ensure that all of the information in the preview is accurate.
- Subsequently, the candidate will be required to choose from a variety of payment methods and bank charges.
- Utilize the Net Banking/Card Payment options to submit the necessary quantity.
- Print the Pre-Acknowledgement Payment form or Chalan and deposit the required amount at the nearest SBI branch.
- Please retain the 'Depositor Copy' or E-receipt for future correspondence following the successful payment of fees.
Offline Application Process for Kannur University SDE Admission
- Please visit the official website of Kannur University SDE.
- Choose the desired course from the navigation menu.
- Complete the form with all necessary information and confirm your registration.
- A recent passport-sized photograph must be uploaded to the application form, and the same photo must be affixed to the printout of the application.
- Take the application form's printout.
- Please submit the application form, the e-receipt, and the requisite documents to the university office.
