What is the JEE Main exam?

JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination which is a national-level examination conducted for admission to IIITs and NITs. Candidates who wish to get into IIT must take the JEE Advanced exam. JEE main is the gateway to be eligible for the JEE advanced exam.

Is JEE main an easy exam?

In the world of engineering, JEE Main is considered to be the toughest exam. Every year around 3 lakh plus students register for the exam and appear for it but only a handful of aspirants are able to crack the exam and qualify for the further exam or admission process.

How many papers does JEE Main have?

JEE Main has 2 papers where paper 1 is for engineering and paper 2A is for B. arch, and paper 2B is for B. planning students. Both the papers are tough and should not be taken lightly.

How long is the JEE Mains exam?

The JEE main exam is for 3 hours. The candidates must complete the exam during this time frame only. The students under the PwD category will be allotted 1 hour extra to complete the exam.

How many questions are asked in the JEE main exam?

In the JEE Main exam there are 75 questions in each section from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (paper 1). Paper 2A which is for architecture has 77 questions, while paper 2B for B. plan has 100 questions.

Who is eligible to appear for the JEE Main exam?

Can the Candidate correct/ change his/her particulars including the City of Exam Centre in the Online Application?

As per the Instructions given to the candidates for filling up their Online Application Form, they are supposed to fill up their particulars carefully and NTA is not responsible for any mistake committed by the candidates in this regard. A one-time correction facility will be provided in the selected fields only. In this regard a public notice will be issued by the NTA.

How to crack JEE Mains in first attempt?

Clearing the JEE Main exam in first attempt is not a difficult task. If we see the year over year statistics, the ratio of students who clear JEE Main in first attempt is high in comparison to students who dropped a year after class 12. One thing that makes it easy to clear JEE Main with class 12 is that students are in regular touch of most JEE syllabus. To score good marks in JEE Main in the first attempt, it is advised that you study class 11 and 12 topics thoroughly, clear all the concepts and solve mock test papers. Also, NCERT books which you study in class 11 and 12 are the best books for JEE Main preparation. Students must study NCERT properly and solve all the questions in the book and do not memorize the concepts as some students do rather understand the concepts.

How many seats are there in IITs?

According to the JoSAA 2024 seat matrix, the total seats in IITs are 17760, while the number of seats in NITs and IIITs is 24229 and 8546, respectively. According to the official data, this year 355 seats are increased in IIT, including 20 in IIT Bhubaneswar, 12 in IIT Bombay, 30 in Kharagpur, 84 in Patna, 30 in Gandhinagar, 10 in Guwahati, 40 in Bhilai, 10 in Tirupati, and 75 in Dharwad. In 2023, the IIT seat count was 17385.
