Ishan Uday Scholarship: Eligibility and Criteria
Candidates from the North Eastern States of India can apply for the Ishan Uday Scholarship. The exact eligibility conditions for Ishan Uday can be seen below.
- Applicants must be residents of one of the North-Eastern states: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, or Tripura.
Candidates' annual household income shall not exceed ₹4.5 lakh from all sources. - For applications for the current academic year, candidates must have completed class 12 or its equivalent in the previous year.
- In addition, the applicants must have secured admission in the first year of any degree course, including integrated courses, in any of the universities/colleges/institutions under Section 2(f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act, Deemed-to-be Universities included under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, and eligible to receive grants-in-aid from UGC, State/Centrally-funded educational institutions, institutes of national repute, and those institutes in which admission is made with AISHE code.
- Transgender students are also eligible for Ishan Uday scholarships.
- Students pursuing their studies through open universities are ineligible to apply for the Ishan Uday Scholarship.
- Also, individuals who have accepted admission through the management quota, have received another scholarship, or are pursuing courses that do not lead to the award of a degree are ineligible for this scholarship.
Ishan Uday Scholarship: Awards
The Ishan Uday scholarship for NER awards 10,000 scholarships worth up to ₹7,800 per month to selected students each year. The selected students receive their scholarship funds via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) into their bank accounts. Ishan Uday Scholarship: Selection Process

Each year, SLOTS UGC will provide 10,000 (ten thousand) brand-new scholarships. The population of each state will determine its slot allotment (as stated in the most recent census). If any State fails to fill its available slots, the authority will fairly distribute the remaining free spaces among the remaining States. Individuals with impairments must also maintain a 3% horizontal reserve.
