Each of the above Regiments is discussed below for your better understanding.

1.   Sikh Regiment

This Regiment was raised in the year 1846. Their Regiment Centre is in Ramgarh, Jharkhand. Their motto is “Nische Kar Apni Jeet Karo” and the war cry is “Jo bole So Nihal Sat Sri Akal”.

2.   Brigade of the guards

This regiment was established in the year 1949. Their Regiment Centre is in Kempty, Maharashtra. Their motto is “Pehla Humesha Pehla” and the war cry is “Garud Ka Hun Bol Pyare.”

3.   Madras Regiment

This regiment was established in the year 1758. Their Regiment Centre is in Wellington. Their motto is “Swadharme Nidhanam Shreyaha” (It’s the glory to die doing one’s duty) and the war cry is “Veer Madrassi, Adi Kollu, Adi Kollu, Adi Kollu” (which means Oh Brave Madrassi, Hit and Kill, Hit and Kill, Hit and Kill.)

4.   Rajputana Rifles

This regiment was established in the year 1775. Their Regiment centre is in Delhi. Their motto is “Veer Bhogya Vasundhara” (which means “the brave shall inherit the Earth”) and the war cry is “Raja Ram Chanda Ji Ki Jai.”

5.   Rajput Regiment

This regiment was established in the year 1778. Their Regiment Centre is in Fatehgadh, UP. Their motto is “Sarvatra Vijay” (which means “victory everywhere”) and the war cry is “Bol Bajrang Bali Ki Jai.”

6.   Dogra Regiment

This regiment was established in the year 1877. Their Regiment Centre is in Faizabad, UP. Their motto is “Kartavyam Anvatma” (which means “Duty Before Death”) and the war cry is “Jwala Mata Ki Jai” (which means “victory to goddess Jwala Ji”).

7.   Sikh Light Infantry

This regiment was raised in the year 1944. Their Regiment Centre is in Fatehgadh, UP. Their motto is “Deg Tegh Fateh” (which means “Prosperity in peace and victory in war”) and the war cry is “Jo bole So Nihal Sat Sri Akal.”

8.   Jat Regiment

This regiment was raised in the year 1795. Their Regiment centre is in Bareilly, UP. Their motto is “Sangathan Va Veerta” (which means “Unity and Valour”) and the war cry is “Jat Balwan, Jai Bhagwan” (“Jat is powerful, victory to god”).

9.   Parachute Regiment

This regiment was raised in the year 1945. Their Regiment Centre is in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Their motto is “Shatrujeet” (which means “The conqueror”) and the war cry is “Tum Bharat ke Veer ho, Tum Apne Desh Ke Rakshak ho.”

10.    Punjab Regiment

This regiment was raised in the year 1757. Their Regiment Centre is in Ramgarh, Jharkhand. Their motto is “Sthal Wa Jal” (which means “By land and sea”) and the war cry is “Jo bole So Nihal Sat Sri Akal.”

11.    The Grenadiers

This regiment was raised in the year 1778. Their Regiment Centre is in Jabalpur, MP. Their motto is “Naam Namak Nishan” (which means “By land and sea”) and the war cry is “Sarvada Shaktishali.”

12.    Maratha Light Infantry

This regiment was raised in the year 1768. Their Regiment Centre is in Belgaum, Karnataka. Their motto is “Duty, Honour, Courage” and the war cry is “Bolo Shri Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Ki Jai.”

13.    Garhwal Rifles

This regiment was formed in the year 1887. Their Regiment Centre is in Lansdowne, Uttarakhand. Their motto is “Yudhaya Krit Nishcaya” (which means fight with determination) and the war cry is “Badri Vishal Lal Ki Jai” (which means the victory of the sons of Lord Badrinath).

14.    Kumaon Regiment

This regiment was established in the year 1813. Their Regiment Centre is in Ranikhet, Uttrakhand. Their motto is “Parakramo Vijayate” and the war cry is “Kalika Mata Ki Jai” (which means the victory to Goddess Kali).

15.    Assam Regiment

This regiment was established in the year 1941. Their Regiment Centre is in Shillong, Meghalaya. Their motto is “Assam Vikram” and the war cry is “Rhino Charge.”

16.    Bihar Regiment

This regiment was formed in the year 1941. Their Regiment Centre is in Patna, Bihar. Their motto is “Karam hi Dharam” and the war cry is “Jai Bajrangbali.”

17.    The Mahar Regiment

This regiment was formed in the year 1941. Their Regiment Centre is in Saugor, MP. Their motto is “Yash Sidhi” and the war cry is “Bolo Hindustan Ki Jai.”

18.    Jammu and Kashmir Rifles

This regiment was formed in the year 1821. Their Regiment Centre is in Jabalpur, MP. Their motto is “Prashata Ranvirta” and the war cry is “Durga Mata Ki Jai” (Victory to Goddess Durga).

19.    J&K Light Infantry

This regiment was formed in the year 1947. Their Regiment Centre is in Awantipora, J&K. Their motto is “Balidanam Vir Lakshanam” and the war cry is “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” (Victory to Mother India).

20.     Naga Regiment

This regiment was formed in the year 1970. Their Regiment Centre is in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand. Their motto is “Parakramo Vijayte” and the war cry is “Jai Durga Naga” (Victory to Durga Naga).

21.   Gorkha Regiments

This regiment was raised in the year 1947. Their Regiment Centre is in Himachal Pradesh for 1 & 4 rifles, Varanasi, UP for 3 & 9 rifles, and the 5& 8 rifles Centre is in Shillong, Meghalaya. Their war cry is “Jai Maa Kali, Ayo Gorkhali”.

22.   Ladakh Scouts

This regiment was raised in the year 1963. Their Regiment centre is in Leh, Ladakh. They are also known as snow warriors/snow tigers. Their war cry is “Ki ki so so Lhargyalo.”

23.   Arunachal Scouts

This regiment was raised in the year 2010. Their Regiment Centre is in Shillong, Meghalaya. They are also known as the protectors of the Indo-Chinese borders.

24.    Dogra Scouts

This regiment was raised in the year 1964. Their Regiment Centre is in Himachal Pradesh.

25.     Sikkim Scouts

This regiment was raised in the year 2013. Their Regiment Centre is in Lucknow, UP.

26.    The Merchandised Infantry Regiment
