In 2024, students in the MBA programme at IIT Kharagpur had a record-breaking success rate in securing jobs that saw all 118 students getting positions. The most lucrative compensation package was Rs37.07 LPA, while the median and average packages are Rs20.83 LPA and Rs20.65 LPA according to. The Strategy & Consulting is the most recruiting domain, placing 29% of all candidates. It was followed by BFSI with 22 %, Supply Chain & Operations with 20 %, and Analytics with 17 %.

Looking at the past trends, the rate of placements in 2023 mirrored the same pattern, however, with a notable increase in the BFSI segment, which grew from 10 % in 2022 to %age in 2024. Overall, though Strategy & Consulting has remained an option for students, the growing demand for BFSI is a sign of changing market dynamics and potential opportunities within the industry.

IIT Kharagpur's MBA program for 2024 seems to indicate mixed results compared to previous years.  This year's top package stood at Rs. 37.07 LPA, 15.30% lower than last year’s high of Rs. 43.37 LPA.  The average package for 2024 is Rs. 20.83 LPA, which also marks a reduction from 2023’s Rs. 22.13 LPA.  The same trend can be seen in the median package, which also dipped slightly from Rs. 21.04 LPA to Rs. 20.65 LPA.

 Over the past three years, the highest package has fluctuated from Rs. 31.98 LPA in 2022, increasing in 2023, and declining in 2024. The average package experienced steady growth, starting from Rs. 19.36 LPA in 2022, peaking in 2023, and then declining in 2024.
