GATE 2025 Mechanical Engineering Syllabus - Section-wise Weightage

The section-wise weightage of the syllabus actually defines the importance of each topic asked in the GATE Question Paper. There are topics which have a considerable number of questions and there are some topics which hardly appear in the question papers. This differentiation can help students understand which topics to pick first and need more time and energy. They can strategize their study plan based on this segregation of topics according to their importance.

In the GATE ME Exam 85% of the total weightage is given to the core GATE ME Syllabus (which also includes 13% for engineering Mathematics) and the remaining 15% weightage is given to the General Aptitude.

This section-wise weightage of the GATE ME Exam is calculated by  doing a deep analysis of the previous years’ question papers. This helps students figure out the important topics of Mechanical Engineering.
