GATE 2025 Cutoff: Key Highlights

GATE Cutoff

What is GATE Cutoff?

GATE Exam is a national level entrance exam which is conducted by IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, and Indian Institutes for Science, Bangalore on rotational basis on behalf of National Coordination Board (NCB - GATE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD), Government of India.

To get admission into Master of Technology (MTech) and direct PhD program into Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other institutes/universities across India, candidates are required to get score in this exam.

Difference Between GATE Qualifying Cutoff and Admission Cutoff

GATE qualifying cut-off is the minimum marks that should be achieved in order to qualify for taking the GATE exam, whereas admission cut-off is the minimum mark that is necessary to be eligible for admission at a particular institute (such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, etc.) for M.Tech, MSc, or PhD courses.

GATE Qualifying cutoff is released by the authorities who conduct GATE Exams. While GATE Admission Cutoff is released by the participating institutes (IITs, NITs, IIITs, etc) for the admission process.
