In the pursuit of higher education many deserving students are hindered by financial constraints. FAEA believes in education for a just, productive and cultured society. It emphasizes equality of opportunity. It helps students to pursue what they want to be so that they have a choice and not forced by necessity. To address this issue FAEA has launched FAEA Scholarship. This scholarship is for students who have passed Class 12 and are pursuing their undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, Science, Engineering and other technical and professional courses across India. A total of 50 selected candidates will receive tuition fees, maintenance allowance or hostel/mess charges, and other allowances.

The Foundation for Academic Excellence and Access (FAEA) is dedicated to promoting equal access to higher education, particularly for students from underprivileged backgrounds.

What is the FAEA Scholarship?

The FAEA Foundation scholarship is committed to the idea of education as a means of building a just, economic, and cultured society. Undergraduate research carried out within India's boundaries is the target audience for the FAEA scholarship.

Any recognized Indian college that awards a degree upon course completion is open to FAEA scholars. The amount of the FAEA scholarship may change. FAEA support may be awarded to a scholar for a maximum of five years, subject to financial availability.

FAEA Scholarship Eligibility

To be eligible:-

  • Have passed Class 12 from a recognized board in India OR
  • Be a first year undergraduate student in a program offered by a recognized university, institution or college in India in Arts, Commerce, Science, Medical, Engineering or other technical or professional disciplines
  • Belong to the socially and economically disadvantaged sections including SC/ST/OBC/BPL category

Note:-

  • Students whose Class 12 results are not declared can apply after the results are declared.
  • General category students can apply for need based financial grants with a merit component. They must have scored above 90% in their Higher Secondary Exam or have got admission in a top ranked Institution of Excellence in India.

FAEA Scholarship Benefits

50 students will be awarded with financial assistance for undergraduate courses which includes tuition fees, maintenance allowance or hostel/mess charges and other allowances for travel, clothing and book purchase as per norms.

Continuation and amount of the scholarship is however subject to good academic performance and funding availability.

The scholarship will be withdrawn under the following circumstances:

  • Students who do not maintain good academic progress.
  • Students who are physically or mentally ill and cannot continue their program of study.
  • In case of detection of any false declaration by the student.

  • Fellowships and scholarships offered by the institute, with a focus on underprivileged and marginalized populations like the dalit and advasis.
  • Plan mentorship programs to help socially marginalized groups—dalits and Advasis in particular—gain access to educational opportunities and power structures.
  • Encourage creativity in higher learning.
  • To further the goals of society, establish partnerships, collaborations, and liaisons with other Indian and international organizations and institutions.
  • Accept financial aid, grants, gifts, and emoluments from the Indian government, state governments, charitable trusts, foundations, and other national and international organizations. However, in the case of international agencies, such grants will need the Indian government's consent.
  • Give grants and other forms of assistance to organizations and people in order to further societal goals.
  • Raise money for India's higher education system's capacity growth from both domestic and international sources.
  • To plan conferences, workshops, seminars, and other gatherings that advance societal goals and objectives.
  • To create, grow, and manage research and study facilities in order to further societal goals.
  • To bestow honorary degrees.

FAEA Scholarship Selection Process

  • Shortlisted students will be invited for interviews across India in the metropolitan cities. 
  • A national panel will make the final selection based on the interviews followed by declaration of results.
  • The scholarship support granted shall be subject to the candidate being accepted or admitted by the host university/institution/college.

FAEA Scholarship Fees in 2024

One benefit of an FAEA award is a tuition fee. FAEA will only ever cover the costs of free seats; purchased seats will never be reimbursed. The following is a list of the actions that must be taken:-

Enclose a certificate of purchase. The principle, dean, or director of the college or institute where the FAEA scholars are admitted must sign and certify the fee certificate. Included should be all fees that are due in a single academic year. Students attending two-semester colleges are recommended to request a breakdown of the expenditures related to each semester from the institution. It is reasonable to request an explanation of the fee schedule from the college.

This check list is provided to you to ensure that you send all the documents required. Please tick the documents that you are sending as specified below. 

1. Copy of grant letter signed by you (Compulsory only for New Scholars).

2. Class X mark sheet attested by college/school Principal. (Compulsory only for New Scholars)

3. Class XII mark sheet attested by your college/school Principal.(Compulsory only for New Scholars)

4. Attested photocopy of your BPL Card/BPL Certificate.(Compulsory only for New Scholars)

5. Attested photocopy of Latest Income certificate, issued by the authorized Govt. Agency/department. (Compulsory only for New Scholars) 

6. Attested photocopy of Certificate of Caste, in case if you have declared SC/ST or OBCs in your application form, issued by the authorized Govt. Agency/department. (Compulsory only for New Scholars) 

7. Scholarship Declaration letter signed by the student and duly attested by your college Principal. (Mention Any Kind of Financial Help (with amount) you are getting from College/Government/any other agency). To be submitted at the beginning of each academic

8. Scholarship Recommendation Letter signed by the student and duly attested by your college Principal.(Mention that you have been promoted to next class with good percentage, Performance) To be submitted at the beginning of each academic year (To be filled only by old scholars)

9. Certificate of expenditure (Fee And Hostel & Mess) issued by your college principal or A certificate of expenditure prepared by you and attested by the Principal (Ref. Format 1 and 2). In Case of Non Hostellers, Students are required to submit a Non Hosteller Certificate issued by the College. (This certificate of expenditure should contain all expenses payable in the session of 2019.

10. Permanent mailing address form filled in completely by you. (To be submitted by old scholars at the beginning of each academic year if there is any updation)

16. Send Scanned Copy of your Photograph With Confirmation Code and Name on inquiry@faeaindia.org (Only for New Scholars and those who have not sent their scanned photographs).

17. Self attested copy of Aadhar Card/College Id Proof/Voter Id/any photo Id Proof (Only for New Scholars and those who have not submitted earlier). Submission of Aadhar Card is compulsory for all applicants.

 

Conditions for Permission of Deferments


FAEA scholars may postpone or defer their scholarship for a year under two circumstances:

  • Must be prepared for exams that are competitive, including MBBS and engineering.
  • In the case of a serious disease or accident. The request must be forwarded by the principal.

There can be only one postponement during the scholarship period. FAEA scholars are required to submit a written application to FAEA along with their reasons for a postponement; applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Procedure for Making a Deferment Request for Personal or Health-Related Reasons


Deferments, also known as postponements, are permitted once for a maximum of one year. A request for a postponement may be made for private reasons, such as a serious illness in the fellow's family, their own, or poor circumstances in the scholar's home state. Requests for deferments must be sent to the FAEA headquarters in New Delhi together with any necessary documentation.

FAEA Scholarship Important Instructions

  • Confirmation Code: After submitting the online application successfully, you will receive a 9 digit auto generated “Confirmation Code”. Please keep this code safe for any future correspondence with FAEA.
  • Document Submission: Do not send any documents or certificates at the time of application. If you are shortlisted in the first round of selection, you will be intimated to attend an interview. During the interview, you need to bring original documents. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification of the scholarship.
  • Completeness of Application: Please ensure that your application form is complete. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

FAEA Scholarship Guidelines

The Following are the guidelines for the FAEA India Scholarship.

  1. Study Location: Scholars can study at any university, institution or college in India as per their choice.
  2. Duration and Conditions: Scholarships can be up to 5 years and need to be renewed every year based on scholar’s academic performance and availability of funds with FAEA. Scholars must be full time in a formal degree program.
  3. Deferment: Deferments (postponements) can be granted only once for a maximum period of 1 year. Deferment requests must be sent to the FAEA office in New Delhi along with supporting documents/evidence. Deferments will be considered in case of personal emergencies like serious illness in a scholar's immediate family or adverse situation in their home state.
  4. Disbursement of Funds: Funds will be directly disbursed to scholars except tuition, hostel and other fees which will be paid to the educational institution. Scholars are advised to use on-campus housing and mess facilities.
  5. Award Amount: Award will be decided by FAEA as per the budget. The decision of FAEA is final and it may cover the full cost of education for up to 5 years.
  6. Travel Assistance: For interview, candidates will get second class travel support for one round trip to the destination and back to their home city or village. In case of female candidates, one companion will be reimbursed.

  • Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
  • Final awards are at the discretion of the FAEA and may cover the full cost of proposed study plans for up to 5 years.
  • The scholarship will initially support selected students for up to 3 years. This can be extended for 2 more years for postgraduate studies if the student passes their graduate exams and funding is available.
  • FAEA Scholarship recipients are expected to do well in their studies and pass their subjects.
