IIFT 2019 entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has successfully culminated on December 2, 2018. The entrance examination was conducted to select the talented and potential candidate from across the country for admission in 2 years MBA programme in International Business course offered at IIFT. The admission will be taken for the academic year 2019-2021. The entrance examination was regulated in various cities of India and thousands of students appeared for the same.
As per the IIFT 2019 Exam pattern, the marking system was differential and for every incorrect answer, the candidate will be penalized with negative marking of 1/3rd marks from the total marks assigned for that particular question.
IIFT 2017 Vs IIFT 2018:
Candidates who have appeared for IIFT 2018 examination declared it as one of the toughest question paper in last so many years, the year 2018 was no different. Considering the difficulty level the IIFT 2019 was lengthier and abundantly tricky. The number of passages increased from 4 passage per question paper to 5 passages this year, and students found it very tedious and time taking to read the comprehensions. The students got no extra time for the increased passage and the number of questions remained the same as 114. Overall the IIFT 2019 question paper had a high difficulty level.
IIFT 2019 section wise analysis:
IIFT 2019 had seen some of the major changes which collectively resulted in the increased difficulty level of the examination. Some of the key changes to the examination are:
- Compare to last year Logical Reasoning section of the examination was quite easy from other segments of question paper.
- One of the impacting change was in the marking scheme of DI and VA segment.
- For each incorrect answer in VA section, the candidate will lose 0.75 marks instead of 1 marks like the previous year.
- For Each correct answer in DI, the candidate will get 1 mark, not 0.75.
- For the segment of General Knowledge, the difficulty level was moderate.
- The RC passage was the most lengthy section of the question paper.
- In the quant section, most of the questions were from arithmetic, geometry and algebra section which was quite moderate.

Local Reasoning:
One of the most time taking the section of the question paper is local reasoning segment with easy to moderate difficulty level. The candidates who managed to attempt at least 10 to 11 questions with 85 per cent of accuracy in half an hour has performed really well.

Data Interpretation:
One of the calculation intensive segment of the question paper in Data Interpretation and any candidate who had attempted at least 2 to 3 questions out of 4 to 5 questions with 100 percent accuracy have a great chance to do well in the examination.

General Knowledge:
This particular segment of the question paper was quite easy in comparison to the last year and any candidate who managed to attend 50 per cent of the total questions with at least 50 per cent accuracy have a strong chance.

Reading Comprehension:
This year the lengthiest segment of the question paper was reading comprehension with the total of 5 passages. Four out of Five passages had 3 questions each while one passage had 4 questions. These passages were taken from academic sources hence the language was quite difficult to understand for those candidates who are not much into scholar readings. As the segment was very time consuming any candidate who was able to attend all the questions of at least 2 to 3 passages has performed really well. The questions were more of fact-based and difficult to understand.

Quantitative Ability:
Quantitative Ability segment of the IIFT 2018 question paper was moderate in difficulty level and any question who managed to attempt at least 10 to 12 questions in 30 mins and get 85% of them correct had performed really well in the segment.

English Usage:
There were not many changes in English Usage segment this year, however, the phrase and clause segment was missing. The overall segment was quite difficult as the jumble words were quite tricky to understand, also the word matching was difficult for candidates so was the questions related to analogy. Candidates who performed well in this particular segment got very strong chances in overall performance.
