Economically Backward Class (EBC) Scholarship is offered to post matric students for their studies as a financial aid and encourages students to excel in academics.
The post-matric scholarships scheme for the Economically Backward Class for studies in India initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (Department of Social Justice & Empowerment), Government of India.

Post-Matric Scholarships for EBC Students
The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the Economically Backward Class (EBC) students studying at post,matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. These scholarships shall be available for studies in India only and will be awarded by the Government of State/ Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e. permanently settled.

EBC Scholarship Eligibility
The conditions of eligibility for EBC Scholarship is as follows:
- The scholarships will be Open to Indian nationals belonging to General Category (Other than Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and Other Backward Classes) and the total income from all sources of the employed candidate or his/her parents/guardians in case of unemployed candidate shall not exceed Rs.1.00 lakh per annum.
- Income certificate should be submitted from the competent authority in the State/ Union Territory.
- These scholarships will be given for the study of all recognized post matriculation or post-secondary courses pursued in the Government institutions.
- A scholarship holder under this Scheme will not hold any other scholarship/stipend.
EBC Scholarship Value
The value of scholarship will include:
- Maintenance Allowance,
- Reader Charges-for-blind students,
- Reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees,
- Study Tour Charges/ thesis typing/printing charges and book allowance for students pursuing correspondence courses, for the complete duration of the course.
EBC Scholarship Payment
- The Scheme will be funded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on a 100% basis.
- The scholarship will become payable immediately after a student has secured admission and has started attending the classes.
EBC Scholarship Application Procedure
Following are the steps to fill out the application in order to avail EBC Scholarship:
- The students are required to apply under the Scheme on National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
- The student applying for the first time on NSP needs to register as a new user.
- The student has to fill in all the required information and click on ‘Register’ to get registered.
- After registration, an OTR ID and password will be generated on the registered mobile number.
- Students who have received the OTR no. can directly apply for scholarships on the NSP portal.
- The student has to fill all the details mentioned on the application form and upload the required documents.
- Click on the ‘Submit’ button for final submission of the scholarship application form.
