DPIIT Internship Comprehensive Overview
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has been operating an internship system for students pursuing Undergraduate/Postgraduate degrees or Research Scholars enrolled in recognised universities/institutions in India and overseas. The goal of the internship programme is to expose students to the working culture of the Government of India, as well as to the schemes conducted by this department. Students can choose a term of one, two, or three months according to their needs. All applications will be processed online only.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), a division of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is committed to developing young talent by launching an internship programme for students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or research scholar programmes at recognised universities or institutions in India or abroad. This initiative intends to provide students with important exposure to the workings of the Indian government as well as insights into the DPIIT's numerous schemes. The interns would get ₹10,000 per month.
DPIIT Internship Key highlights
- Year-round Availability: The DPIIT Internship Scheme is offered year-round, allowing applicants to choose a period of one, two, or three months based on their preferences.
- Online Application: Applications for this internship will only be accepted online.
- Period of Internship: Internships should last at least one month but no more than three months. After completing the internship, students will receive an Experience Certificate. Those who do not complete the required length of internship will not be issued a certificate or stipend.
DPIIT Internship Eligibility
Applicants pursuing Graduation, Post Graduation, or Research in the following fields may apply:
- Engineering
- Management
- Law
- Economics
- Finance
- Computers
- Library Management
- Available for at least one month but no more than three months.
Note: Candidates from different domains may be considered on an individual basis, based on the department's needs.
DPIIT Internship Benefits
- Internship Duration: The internship duration can range from one to three months.
- Experience Certificate: Students who successfully complete the internship will get an Experience Certificate. Those who do not complete the required internship period will not receive any certificates.
- Number of Intern: The DPIIT will pick no more than 20 interns at a time.
- Stipend: The DPIIT Internship Scheme offers a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000/- (Ten Thousand).

- (Marksheet for Class 10th/12th)
- Proof of Current Educational Qualification
- Bank details (for stipend payments)
- Any other documents as needed.

DPIIT Internship Selection Process
The selection procedure includes the following steps:
- All applications submitted online will be compiled by the Establishment Division.
- Sections/divisions may request interns with the approval of the appropriate Bureau Head.
- Upon request, the Establishment Division will give information on available applications to the appropriate Division.
- Bureau Heads will select interns depending on their needs, and the Estt. G Section will send offer letters to the chosen interns.
- Payment of the stipend shall be commenced by the Estt. G Section after the internship time has ended. Interns must present a certificate certifying the effective completion of their assigned tasks.
- At the conclusion of their job, interns must submit a concise report or paper to the appropriate Divisional Head.
- The corresponding Division/Section will keep attendance and work supervision records.
- The conduct of interns and their access to data will be solely the responsibility of the relevant Divisional Head.
