CRPF ASI Stenographer Overview
CRPF offers a unique career opportunity for stenography skills: Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer) post. This post combines technical skills of shorthand and typing with the responsibilities of a paramilitary officer in CRPF.
What is CRPF ASI Stenographer?
A CRPF Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer) is a vital link between communication and administration.
- Stenography in CRPF role involves taking dictation in shorthand at high speeds during meetings, briefings and other official proceedings. This includes transcribing dictated speech into clean and readable documents, proof reading and editing transcripts for accuracy and clarity and preparing correspondence, reports and other documents using typing skills.
- Apart from stenography, administrative support is also required. This includes maintaining and organizing CRPF records, files and documents, assisting senior officers with administrative tasks like scheduling appointments, managing travel and correspondence. Also preparing reports and summaries of CRPF activities and operations is a major responsibility.
- Law and order duties in CRPF includes riot control and crowd management, patrolling sensitive areas and checking security. They may also be involved in disaster relief and rescue operations and may be deployed for counter insurgency or anti terrorism operations, as and when required.
CRPF ASI Stenographer Eligibility Criteria
To apply for CRPF ASI Stenographer post you must have following criteria:
- Education: 10+2 or equivalent from recognized board/university.
- Age: 18 to 25 years (as on application date). Age relaxation as per government rules for reserved categories.
- Nationality: Indian.
- Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit as per CRPF standards.
- Medical Fitness: Declared medically fit by CRPF doctor.
- Stenography Skills: Minimum qualifying speed in shorthand (depending on the language) as specified by the CRPF.
- Typing Skills: High typing speed and accuracy.
CRPF ASI Stenographer Selection Process
The CRPF ASI Stenographer selection process is a process to test the candidates. Here are the steps:
- Online Application: Apply online within the application window on the CRPF website. During the application process you will have to upload your educational certificates, age proof and category certificates (if applicable).
- Written Examination (Computer Based Test): Shortlisted candidates will appear for a computer based written test. The test will cover General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Reasoning Ability (verbal and non-verbal) and Basic English Comprehension.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET): The PET will assess physical endurance and agility through various activities like endurance run (to be completed within a specified time), push-ups (minimum required), sit-ups (minimum required), long jump (minimum required). Meeting the physical standards is mandatory.
- Skill Test (Stenography and Typing): Candidates who qualify in PET will appear for a skill test to evaluate their stenography and typing skills. Stenography test will measure shorthand speed and accuracy in the prescribed language (Hindi/English) and typing test will measure typing speed and accuracy on computer. You must score minimum qualifying marks in both stenography and typing tests.
- Document Verification: Candidates who qualify the skill test will undergo document verification. This will involve verification of original educational certificates, age proof, caste certificates (if applicable) and other relevant documents to confirm their genuineness.
- Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the document verification will appear for a medical examination conducted by CRPF doctor. This will assess overall fitness of the candidates to ensure they are fit for the job.
Only those who clear all the stages of selection will be appointed as CRPF ASI Stenographer.
CRPF ASI Salary Structure
The CRPF ASI post is paid as per the Pay Scale Level 5. The candidate can refer to the table given below for the detailed salary structure:
CRPF ASI Post Annual Package
The selected candidates will receive a basic monthly CRPF ASI salary of Rs. 29,200/- to Rs. 92,300/- Level 5 in the pay Matrix. The annual package for the candidates will thus range from Rs.3,50,400/- to Rs.11,07,600/-.
CRPF ASI In-Hand Salary
The candidates will receive the basic CRPF ASI Salary of Rs. 29,200/- according to the pay scale level 5. The selected candidate will receive a maximum salary of Rs. 92,300/- per month along with the grade pay of Rs. 2800/- after gaining the required experience in the CRPF ASI post.
CRPF ASI Salary Slip
Candidates who will get appointed for the CRPF ASI Steno post will receive a Salary Slip at the end of every month. CRPF ASI salary slip contains basic salary, gross salary, net salary, deductions, allowances etc. CRPF ASI Steno salary slip is used for various purposes like proof of employment, loan, income tax etc

Step 3: In the recruitment section click on HC/ASI option. It will take you to the registration and application portal for ASI.
Step 4: Read the notification carefully. It is necessary to understand the eligibility, important dates and other details before applying.
Step 5: Fill all the required details in the application form. This includes your name, mother’s name, father’s name, educational qualifications and other personal details. Make sure all the details are accurate and match with your original documents.
Step 6: Upload the documents as mentioned in the notification. This includes caste certificate, educational qualification certificates, scanned signature and passport size photograph. Ensure the documents are clear and in the required format.
