CMAT 2024 Score vs Percentile
In order to secure admission to a prestigious MBA program, it is crucial to achieve a favorable CMAT score. Certain institutions use CMAT scores as their admission cutoff criteria, while others employ CMAT percentiles. This article offers a comprehensive examination of the CMAT score versus percentile, helping you determine the score needed to attain your desired percentile in the CMAT examination.
What is CMAT Score?
The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the CMAT examination, and its results are presented in three key formats: the total score, percentile score, and all India ranks. The CMAT score is determined by summing up the marks obtained by a candidate in each section of the CMAT question paper. In each section, candidates receive separate marks, which are then aggregated to compute the CMAT Total Score, with a maximum possible score of 400. To compute the CMAT exam score, candidates can adhere to the following guidelines:
- Four marks are awarded for each correct answer.
- Each incorrect response incurs a one-mark deduction.
- For unanswered questions, neither marks are awarded nor deducted.
- The total score is calculated by adding up the marks based on the questions answered.

What is CMAT Percentile?
In the context of CMAT, the term "percentile" refers to a comparative score that indicates the percentage of candidates who have achieved a lower score than a specific candidate. In simpler terms, it is a method for classifying candidates based on their performance, revealing their position within the merit list.
CMAT 2024 Score Vs Percentile for Admission 2024: Key Highlights
- National Merit List: A nationwide ranking, known as the All India Rank, is established for CMAT based on the marks obtained relative to the total marks.
- Opportunity for Higher Percentile at Lower Scores: In the 2024 scorecard, it is anticipated that the CMAT score versus percentile correlation will increase. Candidates scoring between 345 and 350 marks are expected to achieve a perfect 100 percentile in 2024. Likewise, the CMAT score range for candidates targeting the 99 to 99.99 percentile in 2024 is expected to fall between 285 and 340 marks.
- Inclusion of All Candidates in Merit List: The CMAT National Merit list encompasses all candidates who participate in the CMAT exam. Percentiles are awarded across a range from 0.005 percentile to a flawless 100 percentile, ensuring that no candidate is disqualified from the examination.
- Calculation of Percentile Ranking: In cases where multiple candidates have the same total marks, percentile ranking is determined by considering sectional scores in the following order: Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation (QTDI), Logical Reasoning (LR), Language Comprehension (LC), and General Awareness (GA). Preference is given to candidates with fewer negative responses, followed by those who are older in age.
