IIM Calcutta has released the CAT Exam day guidelines 2024 that students must comply with in order to be a part of hassle free procedure. IIM Calcutta is the examination conducting body for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 Exam. CAT Exam 2024 is all set to be conducted on November 24, 2024. It is imperative for aspirants to be aware of the CAT Exam Day Guidelines and adhering to it for hassle free transition. This prior knowledge of these guidelines is important for those appearing in the examination.

Dos and Don’ts on CAT Exam Day

There are certain steps that aspirants must take care of when appearing in the examination. These guidelines have been defined by the examination conducting body. Below mentioned are the things that must and must not be done on the examination day. 

Dos of CAT Exam Day Guidelines 2024

Below mentioned are the specific guidelines released by the conducting authority that aspirants must follow:

  • Download your CAT Admit Card 2024 from the official website - iimcat.ac.in. Take a printout of the admit card and affix the passport sized photograph in the given section.
  • Candidates must carry this printout to the examination hall.
  • Carry one valid photo ID proof along with your CAT Hall Ticket. 
  • Make prior arrangements for traveling to the examination centre in order to reach in time. You must reach at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination.
  • Submit all the material provided to you at the exam hall such as pen, writing pad and the admit card after the exam is completed.
  • Use only the mouse and on-screen keyboard attached to the assigned computer.
  • In case of the name change, medical certificate and scribe affidavit, candidates must bring a valid document.

Don’ts of CAT Exam Day Guidelines 2024

Below mentioned are a few pointers that candidates must refrain from doing in the CAT 2024 Exam:

  • There should be no multiple registrations. Candidates must not register for more than one slot of the exam as it will only lead to cancelation of their candidature. 
  • Do not carry the prohibited items listed by the examination conducting body. 
  • Any kind of malpractice will not be tolerated.
  • DO NOT use the keyboard during the examination. It will only lock your computer.
  • Any kind of breaks or breathers, except medical emergencies, are not permitted. Do not waste your time asking for it. 
  • Any request to change slots or exam centers will not be entertained.
  • Extra writing pad pages will not be given. Make sure you don’t waste the pages already given to you.

What is the CAT 2024 Exam Dress Code?

The CAT Exam dress code expects students to dress up decently on the examination day. A few guidelines have been given by IIM Calcutta in order to ensure a smooth procedure. Adhering to these guidelines of dress code is important for the candidates taking CAT 2024. The CAT Exam Dress Code instructions are mentioned below:

  • Candidates must not wear any ornaments, accessories or jewellery for the examination hall.
  • The clothes worn by the candidates must not be full sleeved, contain too many pockets, have multiple layers. Simple clothes without any layering will be appreciated.
  • Candidates with special clothing with respect to their religious sentiments are advised to report to the examination centre in advance for screening. 
  • Candidates are advised to wear open footwear such as slippers while shoes and thick soled or closed footwear must be avoided.
  • Any metallic accessories such as belts and buckles must not be a part of clothing on the examination day.

What are the Prohibited Items on CAT Exam Day 2024?

There is a list of items which students must not carry to the examination centre. These items are strictly not allowed inside the examination hall. Disciplinary measures are taken if the candidates are found in possession of any of the below mentioned prohibited items:

  • Electronic gadgets - mobiles, pen drives, earphones, health bands and others.
  • Stationery items - calculators, log tables, geometry boxes. (Pens and writing pads will be given at the examination centre)
  • Digital or analogue watches.
  • Food items, plaque and designed water bottles.
  • Personal belongings - bags, wallets.

What are the Important Documents to Carry on CAT Exam 2024 Day?

Admit Card of CAT Exam is one of the most important documents that students must carry to the examination hall. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall without the cat hall ticket. Along with the cat admit card, candidates must also bring a valid id proof. Below are the ID proofs that candidates can bring to the examination centre:

  • PAN card
  • Driving Licence
  • Voter ID
  • Passport
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Bank Passbook with Photograph
  • College/University ID
  • E-Aadhaar with photograph
  • Ration Card with a photograph

Instruction for Answering the CAT Question Paper

  • Students must read the instructions written in the CAT 2024 Question Paper carefully. The instructions are the important information about the different aspects of the examination such as negative marking, marking scheme, what to do and what not to do during the examination. We would like to advise the candidates to read all the instructions before the commencement of the CAT 2024 Exam. 

Pattern of CAT Question Paper

  • The question paper of CAT 2024 will have a definite pattern. The first section of CAT Exam is VARC followed by DILR and the third and last section is Quantitative Aptitude. Candidates can not choose amongst the sections and hence will have to attempt questions in the sequence only. The next section can be solved only after the current section is solved.
