The Border Security Force (BSF) was founded on 01st December 1965, and is headquartered in New Delhi. Its primary mission is to defend India’s borders, deter illegal immigration, and counter terrorism threats. It is under Ministry of Home Affairs and was formed in the wake of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 "for ensuring the security of the borders of India and for connected matters therewith.
