BITS School of Management follows a “no cut-off policy”, removing any requirement of a minimum CAT score or rank. Rather, it follows a holistic selection approach to shortlist candidates with the best potential. However, a competitive CAT score is important to maximize the chances of getting admission in the Institute.

In 2024, BITSoM admissions witnessed 94% as a median cut-off percentage in CAT. Students between the percentage score range of 80% - 97% got admission in the 2024 admission rounds. Following the average cut-off percentages of the last few years, the median CAT cut-off score for 2025 is expected to fall between 94-96 percentile.

BITSoM’s admissions process evaluates each applicant comprehensively based on the following criteria:

• Academic Performance: A good academic record in 10th, 12th and undergrad is a must.​
• Work Experience: Candidates with 2 - 4 years of experience come under a more preferred portion of the applicants.
• Extracurriculars: Involvement in extracurriculars, leadership roles and community service adds to the applicant’s profile.​
• Statement of Purpose (SOP): A well written SOP that reflects the candidate’s goals and alignment with BITSoM’s values.
• Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates go through an interview to assess whether they are suitable with the program’s culture and objectives.

Selection Process

The selection process for admission into the MBA programme at BITSoM follows the following steps:

• Entrance Exam: The applicant must have appeared for CAT/GMAT/GRE. The scores must be updated on the application form.
• Application Form: The application form has personal details, two compulsory (and one optional) long-form essay questions. These are used to assess your experiences, skills and personal values.
• Personal Interview (PI): Those who clear this assessment are called for a personal interview round either online or offline, in order to assess their communication skills.
• Offer Letter: Those who pass both, application assessment and personal interview, are offered admission to the institute.

CAT Cut-Off Trends at BITSoM

Since there is no official cut-off percentage for admission in the MBA program at BITSoM, we can look at past median cut-off scores to predict the median cut-off for 2025 admissions:

In 2022, students with a percentage range of 80 - 99% got admission with a median percentage of 94%.
In 2023, the admission cell witnessed a similar range, with the median percentage falling between 94-95%.
In 2024, the median percentage for admission was 94.41%.
