BITSAT exam 2023 takes place via the internet consisting of MCQs. Candidates have to choose one correct answer from the provided choices. The BITSAT 2023 pattern consists of 150 objective questions taken from Chemistry, English, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Logical Reasoning. Candidates can prioritize the selection of the subjects by analyzing BITSAT exam patterns and developing an appropriate study strategy. After IIT-JEE, BITSAT exam is the most attempted exam taken by the candidates.

Candidates who have a prior understanding of the BITSAT exam pattern can have an edge over other candidates appearing in the BITSAT exam. The BITSAT exam pattern comprises information relating to the distribution of marks, the duration of the BITSAT exam, and the types of questions one can expect in the BITSAT exam.If the candidate goes through the BITSAT exam pattern meticulously, he/she can have a better understanding of the BITSAT exam.The duration of the BITSAT examination is 3 hours and the BITSAT exam will take place in two slots.

BITSAT EXAM 2023: Marking Scheme

The candidates who will appear for the BITSAT Exam will be given the marks in accordance with the prescribed marking scheme, as given in the exam pattern of BITSAT previous year papers. As per BITSAT previous year papers, the marking scheme is as follows:

  • Candidates will be awarded +3 for each right answer.
  • -1 will be deducted for each wrong answer
  • 0 will be given for each unattempted question.

BITSAT EXAM 2023: 12 Additional Questions

Apart from the 150 questions, the BITSAT Exam 2023 paper pattern will include extra 12 questions according to BITSAT previous year papers. Candidates who have passed the original test will be offered 12 more questions. Candidates should keep in mind that these additional questions must be completed within the three hours that are allotted to them.

If the candidate attempts these 12 additional questions, he/she will better chance of scoring than other candidates appearing in BITSAT Exam 2023.

  • Physics: 4 questions
  • Biology/Mathematics: 4 questions

BITSAT EXAM 2023: Talking Points/Highlights

Following are the BITSAT exam talking points which have been given, keeping in mind the BITSAT previous year papers: 

  • In case, a  candidate goes on to answer all 130 questions correctly, the candidate will have the option of attempting 12 more questions if there is no paucity of time. 
  • These additional questions will be taken from Chemistry, Physics, and Biology/Mathematics, with four questions from each section. 
  • Moreover, after the candidate has selected extra questions, he/she will be unable to return for rectification of any of the previously answered questions.
  • A day afterward the exam, candidates will be able to view their results online. Printouts of the scores are also available.
  • Individual components of BITSAT 2023 are not time-limited. The candidate can revise any of his or her responses to the 130 questions.
  • The BITSAT questions will be structured in a manner in which an excellent student will have the ability to respond to 130 questions in a period of 180 minutes. The additional problems will allow highly qualified candidates to score more. Candidates should keep in mind, however, that there is a negative marking system for incorrect responses, and every attempt to answer the questions by solely guessing the answers is unlikely to benefit them and may result in lower overall marks.

BITSAT Syllabus:

BiologyIncludes 10 chapters from the CBSE syllabus of both classes 11 and 12. In the Biology section, the topics from Class 11 hold more weight than those of Class 12. We infer that the maximum questions come from principles of inheritance and variation followed by the molecular basis of inheritance and morphology of flowering plants.
MathematicsConsists of 11 topics. This section can be said to be moderate to difficult on the scale of the level of difficulty of the exam.
ChemistryConsists of 13 major topics that dominate the section with most of the questions. The maximum questions are asked from chemical bonding and molecular structure followed by equilibrium and hydrocarbons.
PhysicsComprises 18 topics. This section is considered one of the toughest thresholds in BITSAT by many of the aspirants. Most of the questions are asked about Current Electricity, Semi-Conductors, and laws of motion.
English & Logical ReasoningThis section is subdivided into two more sections- English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. This section consists of 15 questions on English Proficiency and 10 questions on Logical Reasoning.
