The Bureau of Indian Standards or the BIS was established on 1 April 1987 as the pioneer national standards agency of India. It functions under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution. The primary motive behind BIS is to advance and uphold the safety and quality standards for products, services, and systems, in order to bring Indian standards into line with international norms. This was also done to promote trade and the exchange of goods and services.

Every year BIS releases its recruitment notification via the official website for various open positions. The latest BIS recruitment notification announced vacancies for positions in the Management System Certification Department (MSCD). Candidates seeking a BIS career need to apply for the open positions online by filling out an application form and paying the requisite application fee.

BIS Recruitment 2023: The Bureau of Indian Standards has announced 15 open positions for young professionals who wish to join the post of MSCD. BIS Recruitment Process

  1. Notification Release: The initial BIS recruitment process begins with the release of official notification on their official website and other major communication platforms. This makes a candidate aware of a BIS job vacancy.
  2. Application Process: BIS announces the dates between which a candidate can apply for the open job position. Applicants must submit their application and submit all the relevant documents via the BIS recruitment portal.

BIS Eligibility Criteria

  1. Educational Qualification: A candidate must possess a degree in either engineering, science, commerce, or law from a recognized university. Or, the candidate must have a B.E/B.Tech./Engineering Diploma/regular MBA degree from a recognized university.
  2. Grade: The candidate must have at least 60% in aggregate in any one of the degrees mentioned. Candidates who belong to the reserved categories must have at least 50% aggregate marks.
  3. Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18-30 years of age on the date of BIS application. Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) have age relaxations as per government guidelines.
  4. Experience: There is no prior experience needed for joining the BIS.

Applicants who wish to apply in the in the field of agriculture science must meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Agriculture with at least 60% aggregate marks (50% for SC).
  • Must have either agronomy, soil sciences/soil science, entomology, or agriculture chemistry as a sub-discipline.
  • Must be between the age of 18-30 years at the time of the application.

BIS Selection Procedure

Candidates will be assessed based on their educational qualifications as well as how well they perform in the written test, interview, and technical knowledge tests. The interview of the candidates will take place in the BIS Central office, in New Delhi.
