What is AIBE?
All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a national level examination which is administrated by the Bar Council of India for law graduates who are keen to start practicing law. The candidate will receive a certificate of practice, making them eligible to reperesnt themselves in any Indian court. The exam is taken in 53 cities all over India and in both national and regional language
Objective of AIBE Exam
The main objective for law graduates who want to begin practising as lawyers, the Bar Council of India conducts the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) twice a year The exam is given in 53 cities with 140 testing locations. The exam is given to determine a canditates fundamental level of knowledge and to establish the minimal standard for beginning legal practice, in addition to determining the analytical abilities of the candidate. The Bar Council of India grants the candidate a certificate of practice once they pass the All India Bar Examination. Exam participants who meet the qualifications may attend court proceedings in any tribunals, courts, or administrative bodies. The test has a multiple-choice format and is given offline over the course of three and a half hours.

Eligibilty Criteria of AIBE 18 2023

- Education: A three- or five-year LLB degree from an accredited institution or university is required for candidates.
- Registration with the State Bar Council: In accordance with Section 24 (1) (f) of the Advocates Act of 1961, candidates must enroll with their respective State Bar Councils as advocates.

Examination Procedure for AIBE 18 2023:
All India Bar Examination (AIBE) conducted by the Bar Council of India goes through the following examination procedure listed below.
Registration for AIBE 18 2023:
The candidate can register for the examination on the official BCI website. The applicants must first submit an online application for the AIBE exam.
The three stages of the AIBE application process includes:
- registration
- filling out the application form, and
- paying the application cost.
The cost of the AIBE applications :
- SC, ST, SC-PWD & ST-PWD categories - INR 2,560
- General, OBC, Gen-PWD, and OBC-PwD categories- INR 3,560
There are two modes of payment for the fees:
- Online mode ( Net Banking/debit card/credit card)
- Offline mode (bank challan).
Get the AIBE Admit Card
Candidates receive their AIBE admit cards after successfully submitting their applications. Using their registration ID and password, they must access the BCI official website to download the admission card. All relevant information regarding the exam, such as the test date, time, centre address, etc., will be included on the AIBE XVII admit card.
Appear for the AIBE exam.
Candidates must take the exam in pen-and-paper format at the AIBE test centre of their choice. Previously, AIBE was an open book examination, which allowed candidates to bring their study materials, such as books, notes, and so on, into the exam hall. However in the beginning of 2021 it was announced that AIBE will no longer be an open-book exam.
Examine the answer key of AIBE
After the exam, BCI posts the AIBE answer key on its official website for candidates to review. The Council first releases a provisional answer key for the exam, followed by the final answer key. Candidates can get a precise estimate of their exam score by using the AIBE answer key.
Examine the AIBE results
BCI announces AIBE results on its official website after the final answer key is released. Candidates can access their AIBE exam results by entering their roll number and date of birth on the official website.
Obtain the AIBE Certificate of Practice (COP)
Finally, candidates who pass their AIBE exams are given a Certificate of Practice. The BCI notifies qualified candidates when COP is available, after which they can acquire it from their state bar councils.

Guidelines for AIBE 18 2023 Exam Day

- Revise the important topics for the exam and do not study any new topics that can confuse you and create greater and unwanted pressure on you
- Always be on time. It is advisable to reach your AIBE Exam centre atleast an hour earlier to avoid any hurry and unnecessary commotions.
- Items you need to carry: Blue and black ball point pens, admit card, Bare Acts,OMR Sheets, Photo ID
- Items to avoid carrying: Electronic devices like smartphones, smart watches, tablets or anything device that can be termed as unfair means in examinations, Jewelleries are also not permitted.
- Follow all the instructions given by the invigilators and the instructions written in your booklet
- Do not panic if you see an unfamiliar question. Always attempt the questions you know first then with a steady and calm mind give the unfamiliar questions a second shot.
- Time management is very important. Be fast but don't be rash, be focused and dont clutter your mind elsewhere.
