The AILET Cutoff is released by the National Law University (NLU), Delhi soon after the AILET 2025 result is announced on the official website of NLU - nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The AILET 2025 cutoff refers to the minimum score that the candidates must secure to get admission to the courses offered by the NLU. The AILET cutoff for BA LLB, LLM, and other law courses at NLU is released during the AILET counselling and the seat allotment process.
The AILET exam was conducted recently, and the overall difficulty level of the exam was considered to be between easy and moderate. Therefore, the AILET 2025 cutoff is expected to be between 90 and 110. However, the candidates need to note that there are two types of AILET Cutoffs - AILET Qualifying Cutoff and AILET Admission Cutoff. It must be noted that there is a difference between these two cutoffs and should not be used interchangeably.
In this article we will be shedding light on the 2025 expected AILET cutoff for both BA LLB and LLM courses along with the difference between the two types of cutoffs, the AILET previous year cutoffs, and the factors that affect the AILET cutoff. The cutoff analysis presented here will help the candidates decide the college that they can apply to based on the expected marks and the cutoff range.

Factors Affecting the AILET Cutoff
To determine the AILET cutoff for the upcoming years there are a few important factors that the NLUs consider. Based on these factors, the NLUs prepare the cutoff which is then released on the official website. The factors that are taken into consideration while preparing this cutoff are listed below.
Predict your AILET Rank Now with our AILET Rank Predictor
- Difficulty Level of the Question Paper: The complexity of the AILET question paper significantly impacts the cut-off. A particularly challenging paper, characterized by tricky or unfamiliar questions, may result in a lower overall cut-off as fewer candidates score high marks. Conversely, if the paper is deemed easier or more moderate, candidates are likely to achieve higher scores, leading to a higher cut-off.
- Number of Candidates Appeared for the Exam: The volume of candidates taking the AILET exam each year directly affects the cut-off. A higher number of candidates generally increases the competition, which often results in a higher cut-off score. The larger the applicant pool, the higher the threshold that needs to be met to secure a place.
- Average Performance of Candidates: The overall performance level of candidates in the exam is crucial. If the majority of candidates perform exceptionally well, the cut-off will typically be higher to reflect the higher standard of competition. Conversely, if the general performance is lower, the cut-off may be adjusted downward.
- Total Seats Available for BA LLB/LLM Courses: The number of seats available in the BA LLB and LLM programs at NLU Delhi influences the cut-off. With a limited number of seats—110 for BA LLB and 70 for LLM—the cut-off tends to be high due to the high demand for these positions. Fewer available spots mean that only the top-scoring candidates are likely to secure admission.
- Category of Candidates: Cut-offs vary based on candidate categories. Reserved categories such as SC (Scheduled Castes), ST (Scheduled Tribes), PwD (Persons with Disabilities), and KM (Kashmiri Migrants) often have lower cut-offs compared to the General/Open category. This adjustment helps ensure equitable access to educational opportunities for all applicants.
- Changes in Exam Pattern and Syllabus: Any modifications in the exam pattern or syllabus can also impact the cut-off. Changes that make the exam more or less challenging can affect the distribution of scores among candidates, thereby influencing the cut-off.
- Previous Years’ Cut-Off Trends: Historical data on cut-off trends can offer insights into potential cut-off ranges for the current year. Although past cut-offs provide a reference point, they are influenced by the factors mentioned above and may vary accordingly.
- External Factors: External factors such as changes in the educational landscape, socio-economic conditions, and even unforeseen events (e.g., public health crises) can influence cut-off scores. These factors can affect candidate preparation and overall performance.

AILET: Qualifying Cut Off Vs Admission Cut Off 2025
As said above, there are two types of cut-off marks in the AILET Exam. NLU makes the qualifying cut-off and admission cut-off similar to each other. However, these two cut-offs have some major differences, as explained below.
Qualifying Cut Off | Admission Cut Off |
Scoring the marks as per the qualifying cut-off will not guarantee admission. | Scoring the marks as per the admission cut-off can guarantee admission. |
The university uploads the cut-off before conducting the exam | NLU announces the admission cut-off at the time of the counselling process. |
Those who do not secure a rank as per the cut-off will not be considered for merit list preparation | Those who do not score marks as per the admission cut-off may get admission in the mop-up round (if seats are available) |
What Happens After AILET 2025 Cut-off Release?
The merit list will soon be released after the announcement of the cut-off. You are called for AILET Counselling only if you score above the cut-off marks.
- The AILET counselling procedure takes place after the announcement of the result, marking the final step for admission after clearing the AILET.
- The counselling process is conducted online, allowing candidates to participate remotely.
- Only candidates who successfully qualified in the AILET are eligible for counselling.
- Candidates must report on time for the counselling process and bring important documents for verification.
- The required documents for the counselling process include 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates, AILET scorecard, admit card, admission letter, caste certificate, transfer certificate, demand draft, passport-size photographs, and more.
