What is 1 Year B.Ed. Course?

B.Ed Full Form is Bachelor of Education; and B.Ed course in India is a degree in teaching which is a pre-requisite for a teaching career in schools  and institutions. It is usually a 2-year course but the NCTE i.e. National Council for Teacher Education is planning to reinstate one-year B.Ed. course and M.Ed. programs. This is a part of new draft regulations which will give qualified students' teaching careers on a fast-track. This goes into effect in 2026–2027.  The eligibility criteria for 1 Year B.Ed. course in India is that the candidate must me a graduate (bachelor's degree) from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks.

In India, obtaining a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree is the minimum requirement to become a teacher. After graduating and enrolling in a B.Ed. program can students apply for teaching positions in schools across the country.

A standalone B.Ed degree lasts two years whereas, an integrated B.Ed degree lasts four years and is combined with either BA or BSc degree.
