NMAT by GMAC is an aptitude test conducted in the field of Management Studies. NMAT helps the students to get enrolled to the campuses of NMIMS and also many other management studies institutes which accept NMAT in the list of admission criteria.
NMAT is registered by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), where the latter is a non-profitable organization connected to several institutes of Business studies. The main ideology of GMAC relies on a belief that social and economic well-being of the people is through better business management in a country.
NMAT test is conducted online and each candidate has to answer a different set of questions since the questions are randomly generated.
NMAT Exam comprises of 3 main sections:
- Language Skills
- Quantitative Skills
- Logical Reasoning
The time allotted to each section varies and the candidates have the leverage of answering any section first as per their comfort.

NMAT Eligibility Criteria:
- A candidate should have a Bachelor's degree from any recognized university or institute with an aggregate of 50% marks.
- The MBA colleges accepting NMAT as a criterion might have a different eligibility criterion, which the candidates should check on the respective colleges' website.
- Candidates with a work experience of 2 or more years will be given preference at the time of admissions.
- The candidates who are in their final year of graduation can also apply for the exam and they will be allowed provisional admission.
NMAT Highlights:
- The candidates are allowed to take the NMAT test three times in his/her admission cycle.
- The candidates can check the answers after attempting all the questions in a section. But once selected the other section, you will not be able to visit the page of the previous ‘answered' section.
- There is no negative marking.
- The test is carried out for 75 days, which allows the students to select a date, time, and city (48 test centres) of their preference.
- There is a provision of sending the NMAT score to 5 business schools according to your preference before/ after taking the test.

How to Register for NMAT 2018?
Below are a few easy steps to get registered for the exam:
- Visit the official website of NMAT, i.e., http://www.nmat.org.in
- Click on ‘Register Now' and fill the sections of Name, Country, Contact Details with a valid e-mail id, and select a password.
- Click on ‘Submit'.
- Validate or confirm your account by clicking on the link sent on your email id. Once the authentication from your end is complete, you will be redirected to a login page asking for your email id and password of the NMAT account.
- Fill all the available sections in the application form, along with selecting the 5 schools/programmes of your preference.
- Recheck your form and click on ‘Submit' button.
- Immediately, a registration number will flash on your device screen.
- The last step is to make the exam payment after the completion of registration. Click on the “Proceed with online payment” link to complete the payment.

Importantly, if a candidate reschedules his/her test appointment or date, then the rescheduling payment should be made via a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) only.
The NMAT test is also for the people with some disabilities. GMAC provides certain accommodation facilities to ensure help to the candidates. It is done to boost their confidence and provide an opportunity to them.
The facilities are ensured to people with:
- Learning Disability
- Mobile Impairment
- Blindness (Low Vision to No Vision)
- Cerebral Palsy
- Leprosy, and others.
The candidates need to upload their disability document(s) while filling the application form by clicking ‘yes' on the “Person with Disability” option.
Other Notable Details:
- A copyist shall be allowed to the people with vision disability, provided the candidates have to mention about the same in the application form itself.
- The disability certificate should be authentic and complete, if not the same, the candidate will be barred from sitting for the test.
- Extra time, a reader, large fonts, mobility assistance are some of the special arrangements made by the NMAT test authorities.
