NIT MeghalayaAdmission Procedure
The admission procedure of NIT Meghalaya is quite simple and easy to be followed. It involves a few steps to be completed. The admission procedure for programs at different levels varies. Candidates seeking admission are required to register themselves before admission. There are different procedures to register for different programs such as UG, PG, and Ph.D.

The college offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Ph.D. programs under various specializations. B. Tech is offered under five specializations namely Computer science & engineering, electronics & communication engineering, electrical & electronics engineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering.
The eligibility criteria and admission procedure for the students seeking admission to B.Tech programs are mentioned below,
- Candidates are required to have passed 10+2 from a recognized board securing at least 75% marks in aggregate (65% for reserved categories)
- Candidates should have appeared and qualified JEE Main with a valid score
- After clearing the examination, they have to sit for the counseling conducted by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority)
- Ministry of Human Resource Development set up JoSAA for joint seat allocation for admission

Points to be considered while appearing for JEE Main examination:
- JEE Main is conducted in Online and Offline mode
- The paper is divided into three sections namely Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each section consists of 30 questions to be completed in total three hours
- Total marks allotted for the paper are 360 in which +4 is rewarded for each correct question and 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer
NIT MeghalayaPG course Admission Procedure
The institute offers two main programs under post-graduation namely M.Tech and M.Sc. Both of them are offered under various specializations but the admission procedure is different. Both of the programs hold different eligibility criteria and registration process.
Eligibility criteria and admission process for the candidates seeking admission to M. Tech and M.Sc are explained further.
- Candidates seeking admission to the M.Tech program are required to hold a Bachelor's degree (in the relevant field) from a recognized university
- The candidates are selected based on their valid score obtained in GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) examination
- Candidates have to appear in Centralized Counseling for M. Tech/ M. Arch/ M.Plan (CCMT)
- For part-time M. Tech course, the candidates have to appear in written test conducted by the institute. Academic scores and GATE examination scores are also considered during the admission
More about GATE examination
- Examination mode is online
- It contains 65 questions further divided in three sections General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics and discipline subject
- The questions are Multiple Type Choice Questions (MCQs) of 100 marks and are to be completed in three hours
Candidates seeking admission to M.Sc. courses are required to hold Bachelor's degree in Science with relevant subject securing at least 60% marks and the admission is done on the basis of the written examination conducted by the institute.

Candidates seeking admission to part-time M. Tech courses must be regular in an organization and it is not mandatory to have passed GATE examination.
NIT MeghalayaPhD admission procedure
Candidates seeking admission to PhD course should hold a Master's degree in Engineering/Science/Technology/Management Science with minimum of 60% marks in aggregate. The selection still depends on the written examination followed by an interview. Candidates can pursue PhD under Computer science & engineering, electronics & communication, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, chemistry, physics and humanities.

Application procedure
The application procedure of NIT Meghalaya consists of following steps
- Visit the official website to fill the application form
- Make the payment of application fee (INR 500 for General/OBc and INR 250 for SC/ST)
- While filling the application form, one must fill in the reference number and payment date when asked
- All the details filled in by the candidate should be correct and available when asked
- After filling the application form, it has to be submitted along with the self-attested documents and payment proof
- Documents required are all mark sheets and passing certificates, DOB proof, passport sized photographs, payment receipt, identity proofs such as voter id and aadhar card, scorecard.

The average package of overall under graduation is 14.39 lpa. The average package of computer science and engineering is 24 lpa which is better than even some of IIT’s

Placement: For placement and internships ,NITM have Training and placement cell which is very active .In 2018 104 students gets placed among 150 with average salary of 5 lakh .
