Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence: Overview

In honour of the former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi the Government of Rajasthan established the Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence in 2024. The idea behind his renowned scholarship scheme was to provide financial help up to INR 10 lakh to credible students of not more than 35 years of age from economically weaker sections, whose annual family income is below 8 lakh, empowering them to pursue their studies abroad.

This scholarship scheme assists undergraduate, master’s, Ph.D, and postdoctoral students enlisted in foreign universities, supporting them in completing their education.  
The Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence funds expenses including tuition fees, hostel fees, books, stationery allowance, and a monthly stipend throughout the course period. Based on a student’s academic performance in the qualifying exam and financial needs, eligible students are rewarded with this scholarship annually from 2021.

Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence: Objectives

  1. To provide Rajasthani students with financial aid so they can continue their education at one of the top 150 QS World Universities. 
  2. To give students worldwide exposure for professional growth. 
  3. Pupils whose gross family income is less than 8 lakh rupees per year is given precedence.
  4. To allocate 30% of seats (based on income group) to female students in order to give them greater opportunity.

Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates to be eligible for this scholarship should meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must be a citizen of Rajasthan. 
  • The candidate must hold a 12th, bachelor’s, master's, or Ph.d degree from a renowned university/ board.
  • The applicant’s age must not be more than 35 years.
  • The candidate must be planning to study abroad at one of the institutions listed under this scholarship.
  • The annual income of the applicant’s family must be less than INR 8 lakh. 
  • This scholarship will be allotted to only students from each family.

The benefits given under the Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence are intended based on the candidate’s family’s annual income. Students are distinguished into three sections: E1, E2, and E3.

Candidates who want to apply for this scholarship need to follow the following steps  to complete the application process:

Step 1: Candidates need to visit the official website of the Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence 2024.  
Step 2: Students need to click on the ‘online scholarship’ option in the menu bar.  
Step 3: Candidates need to click on the ‘apply now’ on the page.  
Step 4: To move further with the registration process, students are required to sail to the citizen option on the ‘registration’ tab.  
Step 5: Applicants are required to choose either the Jan Aadhar or Google option and proceed with registration by filling up the required details.  
Step 6:  Applicants should verify their registered email address and mobile number for the login details   
Step 7: Candidates must click on the ‘login’ tab and access the portal to complete the scholarship application.

Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence: Terms and Conditions

  • There are 200 scholarships offered annually.
  • There are just 22 spots set up for MBBS, BDS, B.E., B.Tech, and B.Arch programs.
  • You risk being disqualified if you submit documents or information that are incorrect or deceptive. 
  • It can be necessary to participate in online activities. 
  • It is the responsibility of the student to follow all program requirements, including the indemnification bond.
  • The remaining applications will be deemed canceled once 200–300 candidates have been chosen for the relevant fiscal year.
  • Newspapers and the department website will both list the deadlines for review and selection in the applicable fiscal year.
  • Applications submitted before the deadlines set by the Administrative Department for review will be assessed during that stage.
  • Only if seats are still open for the applicable fiscal year will scholarships be selected for in the subsequent step.

Is there any family income criteria required for availing scholarship?

Indeed, The candidate, his or her parents, guardian, or spouse's total annual family income from all sources must not exceed Rs. 8,00,000 (eight lakh). However, applicants with family incomes over Rs. 8,00,000/-per year may be taken into consideration if those with incomes below Rs. 8,00,000/-per year are not accessible.

Can a person employed in any field avail Scholarship under the Scheme.

No, the person employed in any field are not eligible for the scholarship

Can my brother/sister also apply for the Scholarship

The award is only available to one kid of the same parents or guardians. Also, since the award can only be presented once, the recipient is not eligible to be considered for it again.

Can the applicant apply through offline also ?

No, there is no provision for offline application.
