Latest Updates on NEET PG 2023 Posponement
- The demand to postpone NEET PG 2023 is still going on. NEET aspirants and the Federation of All India Medical Association, FAIMA, have advocated for a two to three-week delay in the NEET PG exam. A peaceful protest would take place on Feb 7, 2023 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi in order to have their demands met.
- Dr. Rohan Krishnan, FAIMA's National Chairman and Founding Member, has stated that on Sunday, February 12, 2023, a delegation will meet with Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and the NBE director to discuss the potential postponement of the NEET PG 2023 exam.
- The Vice President of AIMSA (All India Medical Students Association has also showed his support by writing a letter to the Hon'ble Union Health Minister on 06 Feb, 2023 by stating that
"These doctors also play a significant role in providing strength to existing health care systems, there will be around thousand potential eligible MBBS doctors who won't be able to write the life- deciding exam and will be back in their career for around one year which will be a huge loss to the existing resident doctors and work hours for them and their patients as well as an increase in patient load for all hospital in India.
Sir, In view of the facts outlined above, AIMS requests that the concerned authorities consider our request and take action to postpone the examination by two to three months and determine the eligibility criteria for aspirant so that they are eligible to sit NEETPG 2023."
Why are Medical Students and Experts Demanding a NEET PG 2023 Postponement?
The NEET PG 2023 exam is set to take place on. However, medical student bodies and experts are demanding for the postponement of the exam as the deadline for completing the mandatory medical internship has been extended. As a result, approximately 10,000 NEET aspirants will be unable to participate in the medical counseling process, which will be held in July, unless they complete their one-year internship.
In addition, the NEET PG 2022 Special stray round Counseling was held on January 10, 2023, which resulted in a large number of aspirants were not able to prepare well for the upcoming exam, which will be held on March 5, 2023.On January 24,2023, FAIMA (Federation of All India Medical Association) wrote to the Union Health Minister requesting that the exam be postponed, stating that
“If the exam is conducted on the official said date, there will be around 10000 potential eligible MBBS doctors who won't be able to write the life deciding exam and will be back in their career for around 1 year which will be a huge loss to the existing resident doctors work hours, patient load and healthcare system of the country.”
“Sir, considering the above mentioned facts, FAIMA requests the concern authority to kindly consider the request and do the needful by postponing the exam by 2-3 months & re consideration of eligibility criteria of interns to make them eligible for NEET PG 2023.Anticipating favourable response from your end.”
Following the announcement of the NEET PG 2023 by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), hundreds of medical students, doctors, and experts took to Twitter by storm to demand that the exam be postponed by 2-3 months.
