NEET 2019 is scheduled to be conducted on May 5, 2019, by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NTA is an autonomous agency, established by the Government of India to conduct higher education entrance examinations. Earlier, NEET examination was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The online application form for NEET 2019 has been released on the official of the NTA at nta.ac.in.

Here are 8 things to know about NEET 2019:

#1. When is NEET 2019 exam?

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, known as NEET is scheduled to be conducted on May 5, 2019, between 2 pm to 5 pm. The examination schedule will remain unchanged even if the date of the test is declared a public holiday.

#2. Who can appear for NEET 2019?

Following is the NEET eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate who has passed class XII or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as the mandatory subjects both in class XI and XII.
  • Age of the candidate must not be less than 17 years by December 31, 2019.
  • The maximum age limit of the candidate must not be more than 25 years. However, a relaxation of 5 years is provided to the candidates of reserved category.
  • The candidate must possess a minimum of 50 percent aggregate in class XII to appear for NEET. PwD candidates require 45 percent and OBC/SC/ST category candidates require 40 percent marks.

#3. How to apply for NEET 2019?

  • NEET 2019 Application Process is being conducted on the official website of NTA. The candidates are required to register themselves before November 30, 2018, by 11:50 pm.
  • The candidate must keep 4 copies of the confirmation page and at least 5 copies of passport size photograph that has been uploaded during NEET registration.
  • NEET correction window will be available from January 14, 2019, to January 31, 2019.
  • Last date to pay NEET 2019 Application fee is December 1, 2018.

#4. Where will be the examination?

The candidate is required to select the examination centre while filling the NEET Application Form.

#5. What is the syllabus of NEET 2019?

NEET question paper will carry common syllabus notified by the Medical Council of India which was implemented in the year 2013. NEET is the only examination conducted by NTA which can be taken in both online and offline mode.

#6. What will be the format of NEET 2019?

NEET 2019 Question Paper will carry 180 multiple-choice objective-type questions, further divided into three sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). The time duration of the examination will be 3 hours.

#7. What is the marking scheme of NEET 2019?

The candidate will be awarded an additional 4 marks for each correct answer and one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

#8. What are the documents required to be carried to the exam centre?

The candidate is required to carry following documents on the examination day:

  • NEET 2019 Admit Card which is scheduled to be released on April 15, 2019.
  • Candidates' ID proof such as PAN card, driving license, voter ID, passport or Aadhar card.
  • Passport size photograph which is uploaded in the NEET application form
